It is best, at first, to wear ordinary comfortable clothes and sturdy, supportive footwear.
If you then decide to go walking regularly, you could invest in a pair of proper walking boots, as these will give your feet and ankles more support. As with all activities, there is plenty of specialist clothing available to buy.
You will need a small backpack, with comfortable shoulder straps to carry your food, drink, any medication, first aid kit and anything else necessary for your well-being.
You should also wear, or pack, a waterproof jacket in case of rain.
Further info -
Our walks are aimed at adults who can walk at a consistent pace throughout (approximately 2.5 miles per hour). Walks are between 5 and 10 miles long and are led by an experienced walk leader.
We have a break during longer walks at a suitable point for a rest, snack and drink.
Walkers take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety.
